Shout! Studios, a multi-platform media company, has acquired all North American rights to the new Western TRAIL OF VENGEANCE from SkipStone Pictures.
Rumer Willis (Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood), Gbenga Akinnabe (The Old Man), Jeff Fahey (Wyatt Earp), Graham Greene (Dances With Wolves), Erik Nelsen (A Walk Among The Tombstones), James Landry Hébert (1883), Jeremy Sumpter (The Legend of 5 Mile Cave) and Connor Esterson (Spy Kids: Armageddon) star in this gritty Western adventure from director Johnny Remo (God’s Country Song, Saved By Grace), written by Johnny Remo and Daniel Backman.
On the lawless frontier of the 1870s, the life of Katherine Atherton is upended by the murder of her husband, orchestrated by a nefarious colonel. Alone and with no one else to turn to, she unexpectedly crosses paths with a former Pinkerton agent with a troubled past. They must trust one another if they’re going to gain what each most desires: redemption … and vengeance.
The film is based partly on the life of John Scobell, a former slave who would become the first black man recruited by the Pinkerton Agency to spy for Union Intelligence. His bravery and intelligence gathering was pivotal to several key victories.
Shout! Studios has secured all distribution rights in North America to TRAIL OF VENGEANCE, including theatrical, digital, video-on-demand, broadcast, and home entertainment for cross-platform releases. Shout! Studios plans a strategic launch of this movie across all major entertainment platforms, beginning with a theatrical launch later this year.
“Producer/Director Johnny Remo has crafted an absorbing western that has something for everyone – action, history, justice, twists and classic western characters,” says Jordan Fields, Shout! Studios SVP of Acquisitions & Originals. “Revenge propels them, but Rumer Willis propels the film, and we’re eager to bring it to audiences looking for a good story well told.”
Says Remo of the film, "The most rewarding aspect of making this movie is that it has an historical figure, John Scobell, the first Black Secret Service agent hired by Alan Pinkerton."
The movie deal was negotiated by Michael Curylo for SkipStone, and Shout’s Jordan Fields and Steve Katz, Vice President of Business Affairs.
